Born on May 21, 1948, Gerard Hugh “Leo” Sayer is an English-Australian singer and songwriter. He has been a singer for more than 50 years. He obtained Australian citizenship in 2009 and has resided there since.

Sayer started his career in the UK at the beginning of the 1970s, and during the course of the decade, he topped the singles and album charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

Sayer was born and raised in Shoreham-by-the-Sea, Sussex, and has an Irish mother and an English father. His mother, Theresa Nolan, was born in Maguiresbridge in the county of Fermanagh in Northern Ireland.
