Mac Miller and Ariana Grande had been singing the same love song for two years and even released a couple of projects together until the two lovebirds decided to call it quits in May 2018, a few months before the death of the former.

The pair had started dating in 2016 and seemed such a lovely couple until Ariana announced in 2018 that they were no more together which surprised the Hollywood industry as well as fans of both stars. From the little we could gather at the time, Ariana got fed up with Mac’s inability to control his drug usage even after trying so ‘hard’ to help him get over his addiction. A few weeks after they had split, Mac was arrested for reckless driving under the supposed influence of drugs which confirmed two things; Mac was hurt and also, his dependency on the usage of strong drugs.

After the ordeal, fans of Mac called her out on Twitter to which she responded with the following tweet “How absurd that you minimise female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which btw isn’t the case (just Cinderella is about me). I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course). But shaming / blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his s*** together is a very major problem. Let’s please stop doing that.

Almost a year after his passing, Ariana Grande in an interview opened up to Vogue on her relationship with Mac Miller “By no means was what we had perfect. He was the best person ever, and he didn’t deserve the demons he had. I was the glue for such a long time, and I found myself becoming… less and less sticky. The pieces just started to float away”.

Rest on at a beautiful place, Mac!
