Malcolm James McCormick was born on January 19, 1992, in the Pittsburgh neighbourhood of Point Breeze. He was the son of photographer Karen Meyers and architect Mark McCormick, and he had an older brother named Miller. His mother is Jewish, and his father is Christian. While he and his brother were raised Jewish, he attended a Catholic elementary school to “ensure a good education and a chance to play football and lacrosse.” He later attended Winchester Thurston School and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School.

Miller and his friends were arrested for marijuana possession in February 2011 while on tour in upstage New York, and they spent the night in jail. Miller stated that the case had been “resolved.”

In July 2012, producer Lord Finesse sued Miller, Rostrum Records, and DatPiff for using a sample of Finesse’s song “Hip 2 Da Game” in Miller’s 2010 mixtape song “Kool-Aid and Frozen Pizza.” The lawsuit was settled out of court in December 2012, with the terms kept private.

In March 2015, the band Aquarian Dream sued Miller for $150,000 for sampling their song “Yesterday (Was So Nice Today)” in the song “Therapy,” which appeared on Miller’s 2014 mixtape “Faces.”

Miller was arrested in May 2018 on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after colliding with a utility pole and fleeing the scene with two passengers. Miller confessed when police arrived at his home after police obtained his address from his licence plate number. He was arrested and released on $15,000 bail. Miller was charged with two counts of driving under the influence for the incident in August 2018. Miller died before his arraignment, so the charges against him were dropped.
