What is Parrothead?

The term “Parrot Head” was coined by Timothy B. Schmit, a former member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, at a concert in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 28, 1985. Buffett had noticed that many of his fans were wearing tropical clothing and parrots on their heads, and Schmit jokingly asked the crowd, “What is a Parrot Head?” The term caught on, and Parrot Heads are now known as fans of Jimmy Buffett and his music.
