Blueface was born on January 20, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, US. As a nod to his affiliation with the School Yard Crips street gang, Blueface started rapping in January 2017 under the stage name Blueface Bleedem.
After graduating from Fayetteville State University and moving back to Los Angeles, he was asked to his friend Laudiano’s recording studio to get a phone charger.
When Laudiano challenged him to rap over a beat, Blueface accepted the challenge and started working on his first song, “Deadlocs,” which Laudiano produced.
He published Famous Cryp, his debut full-length effort, in June 2018. After the song and EP helped him gain a following among Californians, he published his second EP, Two Coccy, on SoundCloud and Spotify in September 2018.
The music video for Blueface’s song “Respect My Cryppin” was published on WorldstarHipHop’s YouTube channel on October 8, 2018, and soon after, the song was shared on Twitter, where it quickly became viral.
Due to the success of the video, Blueface’s songs “Thotiana” and “Next Big Thing” received more notice and gained newfound popularity.
