It was on “Good Morning America” that Boyce’s parents recently opened up about his fatal epilepsy illness in honor of their son and to raise awareness about the chronic brain disorder that causes seizures and other health issues.
In addition to seizures, epilepsy can cause a wide range of additional health problems. However, there is a slight chance of death even though many people with the illness live long and productive lives. Boyce’s death was caused by a phenomenon known as sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), which is associated with seizure complications (such as being involved in a car accident).
