Alves started his professional career at Bahia in Brazil, before moving to Spanish club Sevilla in 2002. He quickly established himself as one of the top right-backs in La Liga and helped Sevilla win two UEFA Cups and the Copa del Rey. In 2008, he joined Barcelona, where he became a key player for the team and won numerous domestic and international titles, including six La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League three times, and the FIFA Club World Cup three times. In 2016, Alves left Barcelona to join Juventus on a free transfer, where he won two Serie A titles, and reached the final of the Champions League.
