John Charles Kerin was born on November 21, 1937, in Bowral, New South Wales, Australia. He was an economist and politician for the Labor Party.

The Labor Party politician and Australian economist became well-known for his work in the House of Representatives from 1972 to 1975 and again from 1978 to 1993.

In both the Hawke and Keating governments, John Kerin, as he was commonly known, served in a number of senior ministerial positions.

Six months as Australia’s Treasurer and eight years as Minister for Primary Industries and Energy were among them.

The latter position was held by Kerrin for the longest time in Australian history. Before beginning his career as a poultry farmer, Kerrin attended Hurlstone Agricultural High School and Bowral High School.

Kerrin went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967 from the University of New England, Armidale, and a Bachelor of Economics degree in 1977 from the Australian National University.
