Born in London in 1975, Kwasi Kwarteng is the son of Ghanaian parents. He got his education at Harvard University, where he spent a year as a Kennedy Scholar, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a double first in classics and history after being awarded one of the school’s classical scholarships.
Prior to coming to Cambridge to complete his history Ph.D., Kwasi Kwartengre worked as an investment analyst in the City for six years. Kwasi Kwarteng was appointed to represent Spelthorne in the House of Representatives in May 2010.

Since May 2010, Kwasi Kwarteng, a member of the British Conservative Party, has represented Spelthorne in northern Surrey. Kwarteng served as the Liz Truss administration’s Chancellor of the Exchequer from September to October 2022 and as Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy from 2021 to 2022.
