She is most known for providing the voice of the matchmaker in Mulan, a Disney classic. In the 1960s, Miriam Margolyes had her first television appearance.
She initially appeared in the series Theatre 625 in 1965, followed by Boy Meets Girl in 1968.
By the 1980s, she had achieved notoriety because of her appearance as Infanta Maria Escalosa of Spain in the classic TV series Blackadder 1983.
The actress later returned to the show to reprise her role as Lady Whiteadder in Blackadder II.
