Question

If a woman uses musk or perfumes scented with ‘ood or roses, or other kinds of perfume, and their fragrance is obvious, what is the ruling on her using them, especially if the woman goes out of her house? Does honouring female guests by perfuming them with bukhoor (incense) or other perfumes come under the same ruling?

Praise be to Allah.

It is not allowed for a woman to go out wearing perfume
to the market place. She should not go out like that or help her visitors
and guests to do so. Rather she should advise them and say, we would
like to offer you perfume but it is not allowed for a woman to go out
wearing perfume to the market place. In this manner she will combine
the actions of offering sincere advice with avoiding something that
Allaah has forbidden us to do.
