In the same year, Penn appeared in the high school drama movie All the Right Moves (1983), which starred a young Tom Cruise. The following year, Penn performed in the Kevin Bacon-starring movie Footloose (1984), which is about a small town that forbids rock and roll music. The film was a huge success and is still regarded as a classic. In Clint Eastwood’s 1985 film Pale Rider and the Christopher Walken-starring crime drama At Close Range, Penn played the bad guy.
