Kwarteng attended Colet Court, an independent preparatory school in London, after beginning his education at a state primary school in Waltham Forest, where Kwasi Kwarteng won the Harrow History Prize in 1988.

Kwarteng then attended Eton College, where he was a King’s Scholar and received the Newcastle Scholarship. Kwasi Kwarteng studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, where Kwasi Kwarteng earned a double first class degree in classics and history in 1993, as well as the Browne Medal twice.

Kwasi Kwarteng was a member of the BBC quiz show University Challenge winning team in 1995. Kwasi Kwarteng was a member of the University Pitt Club at Cambridge and has since returned to pay a visit.

Kwasi Kwarteng was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard University for a year before receiving a PhD in economic history from the University of Cambridge in 2000, with a thesis titled Political thought of the 1695-7 coinage crisis.
