Peter Matthew Alonso and Michelle Lynn Alonso, a former college softball player at Ohio Wesleyan University who “would take young Pete to his games,” had Alonso and his brother Alex, a lacrosse player for the Queen’s University of Charlotte, in Tampa, Florida. The Catalan refugees who left Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War and relocated to Queens, New York, before settling in Lancaster, Ohio, are the parents of Peter Matthew Alonso.

On March 13, 2022, in Tampa, Florida, Alonso was involved in an automobile accident and had a “very close approach to death.”
