Ama Serwah Genfi known as Amaarae is a professional singer. She is known for her song “Sad Girlz Luv Money”, which featured Moliy. She is a gender and race activist, speaking out on race representation in music.

Her music is soul and Afro fusion.

What Race is Amaarae?

Amaarae was born 4 July, 1994 in New York, United States. She grew up in Atlanta as the eldest of two children. She developed an interest in music listening to Kelis. She released her first single Passionfruit Summers, November 2017.

Amaarae is a Ghanaian American born to Ghanaian parents Ama Bawuah and Kwadwo Boateng Genfi. She returned to Ghana in 2017 and has been quite outspoken about globalization of African music.

She has worked with a lot of African artists while taking her music to the global stage.

She has worked with Stonebwoy, Kojey Radical, Buju, Blaqbonez and Wande Coal. She was named Vogue’s online Top 100 Style Influencers of 2018.

Amaarae is proudly African.
