Davi and Bona were introduced to Graeme McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open Champion, who has a long-standing interest in the food industry.

Graham McDowell was immediately intrigued by Davi & Bona’s Modern Tavern concept, and he helped transform it into Nona Blue.

Davi, Bona, and McDowell had a conversation during the Tavistock Cup in 2012, which inspired the restaurant’s moniker.

On the last day of the tournament, Graham McDowell made par on 18 to lead the Lake Nona team to victory. The Lake Nona team as a whole rushed the green.

McDowell recognized Bona and Davi during the celebration and exclaimed, “Go Blue!” (the Lake Nona team’s colour). Bill responded, “Nona Blue!” at that same moment. The group had given their Modern Tavern a moniker after that.

Nona Blue takes pride in serving burgers and craft beer to a New York strip steak and a good glass of wine to suit everyone’s tastes (and everything in between, including premium fresh fish and the popular G-Mac & Cheese).

Nona Blue is open every day for lunch and dinner. Every Sunday, brunch is served with dishes including Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Lobster Eggs Benedict, and a customizable Bloody Mary and Mimosa menu.
