On Thursday, five police officers. all of them Black, were fired and accused of numerous felonies, including second-degree murder.
Three Memphis Fire Department employees have been let go, along with two more Memphis Police Department officers, two sheriff’s deputies, and four suspensions. On Friday, the city of Memphis released video showing officers beating Mr. Nichols with punches, kicks, and a baton while he begs them to stop.
