George is the oldest child of Prince William, Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, and is currently second in the line of succession to the British throne behind his father.

Prince George is also the eldest child of Prince William, Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Middleton.

Because of his position in the line of succession and the widespread belief that he will one day succeed his father as King of the United Kingdom, his birth was greeted with joy and congratulations across all of the Commonwealth states.

On occasion, George will accompany both of his parents on official royal engagements and excursions.
