French footballer Benjamin Mendy, who competes for Premier League team Manchester City, was born on July 17, 1994, and plays left defender. From 2017 until 2019, he was an athlete for the France national team.

After graduating from the Le Havre development academy, Mendy started his playing career in 2010 with the club’s reserve team before being promoted to the first squad a year later.

Prior to joining Ligue 1 team Marseille in 2013, he stayed with the club. Mendy spent the following three seasons with Les Olympiens before moving on to Monaco, where he won the national championship in 2016–17. Mendy transferred to English club Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for an amount that at the time set a defensive transfer record.

Later, in his first year in England, he won the Premier League.

Mendy made his senior debut for France in 2017, having also earned caps with France’s under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 junior teams. He was named for France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018.

When Mendy was accused of sexual offences in August 2021, Manchester City suspended him. He entered a not guilty plea to all seven rape, sexual assault, and attempted rape accusations against six complainants in May 2022.
