Lola, though, had never met her sister.

After Lilith passed away in 1906, Lola—who was given her name by Crowley’s mistress—was born the following year. Crowley was an ill child at the time, presumably as a result of fetal alcohol syndrome, and his mother had developed into a severe alcoholic by that point.

Around 1910, Rose divorced Crowley, but as she descended into alcohol-fueled dementia and was granted custody of Crowley as a result of the divorce, she was unable to care for the child. The father of Lola Crowley is Aleister Crowley, an occultist, magician, and novelist who developed the religion of Thelema.
