Taylor credited the disengagement of experiencing childhood in a little Grassland place with fueling his longing to “figure out the World.”When he was 14 years old, a chemistry experiment explosion caused him to lose three fingers. This may have led him to choose physics to learn more about this.
Taylor started his Ph.D. at Stanford University after earning his BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Alberta. Prior to completing that degree, he acknowledged an encouragement to assist with building a direct electron gas pedal at the Laboratoire de l’Accélérateur Linéaire in Orsay, France.
After three years, he briefly joined the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory staff in California. However, he soon returned to Stanford to finish his Ph.D. and assist in the construction of a sophisticated underground electron accelerator that was 3.2 kilometers (two miles) long in the Santa Clara Valley.
