Gray took part in collegiate baseball while attending Vanderbilt University with the Vanderbilt Commodores. First overall in the 2011 MLB Draft, the Athletics selected Gray. His Major League Baseball debut occurred in 2013. He earned two Pitcher of the Month honors in the American League the following year, and in 2015, he was selected for an MLB All-Star team. Gray was traded to the Reds prior to the 2019 season after being acquired by the Yankees in 2017.

 

Gray’s parents, Cindy and Jesse, moved the family to Smyrna, Tennessee, before he entered the eighth grade. Gray was born there and resided there until that time. During Gray’s freshman year of high school, his father was killed in a car accident, just as he began playing baseball for Smyrna High School.

Gray and Jessica got married on November 12, 2016. In this couple, there are two boys. Locals to Nashville, they are.
