Harris started his career, during the late 1950s, which he started as a rock and roll singer, he was inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley and Little Richard.

He gained a reputation for his wild stage antics and his high-energy performances, which he his often seen jumping, twisting, and spinning across the stage.

Harris signed his first record deal with HMV in 1958 and went on to release a string of hit singles, including “Rockin’ at the Two I’s,” “Gonna Have a Party,” and “Love Bug Crawl.” He also toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, playing to packed-out crowds at venues such as the Hammersmith Apollo and the Palladium.
