Alexander Boris Johnson was born in New York in 1964 and is a British citizen. He was schooled at Eton College before attending Oxford University. After graduating from Oxford, Johnson went into journalism, working for well-known British periodicals such as The Times, The Daily Telegraph, and The Spectator. He worked as the latter’s editor until 2005.

Boris Johnson’s political career began to take off when he was working as a journalist when he was chosen as the Conservative candidate for the Clwyd South constituency in 1997.
