Despite being the youngest member of the team and competing in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, she won two gold medals for Great Britain and gained widespread notice. She was once more chosen for the Great Britain team in 2012, swimming at a home competition in London. She added two more gold medals to her collection in London, when she established a world record in the 400-meter freestyle, and she won a second gold at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, this time breaking the 200-meter medley world record.
