Hans Modrow, the last communist ruler of East Germany, was a well-known figure in his home country. From 1957 until 1990, Modrow served as a member of the Volkskammer, and from 1967 to 1989, he was a member of the SED Central Committee (ZK). From 1958 through 1967, he ran for the SED Central Committee (ZK).

Hans Modrow served as the first secretary of the SED district administration in Berlin-Köpenick from 1961 to 1967 and as the leadership of the SED district’s secretary for agitation and propaganda from 1967 to 1971.

Hans Modrow was convicted of electoral fraud and perjury by the Dresden District Court in 1995, following the fall of the Communist government and the reunification of Germany, on the grounds that he had served as the SED official ostensibly in control of the election. He later received a nine-month sentence with a suspended period of imprisonment after being found guilty of abuse of office.

Hans Modrowwas is from Jasenitz, which is now a part of Police, Poland, but was formerly in the German region of Pomerania.
