TNT said prior to the start of the 2019-20 NBA season that it would replace the recently ended “Players Only” broadcasts, which began during the second half of the season, with a more conventional broadcast approach for its Tuesday Night slate of games.

Eagle will be one of the play-by-play announcers for the regularly planned doubleheader, alongside Brewers broadcaster Brian Anderson. Eagle will work with either Stan Van Gundy or Jim Jackson as his coach.

Because he pronounces his first name “EYE-un,” Eagle has often stated that life was simpler before the 1986 release of the film Iron Eagle (rather than the more prevalent “EE-an”). Many callers (including well-known athletes) continue to refer to him as “Iron Eagle,” which irritates him.

Personal life

Eagle lives in Essex Fells, New Jersey, with his wife Alisa. Their two children are Noah and Erin. Noah, a Syracuse alumnus, is a play-by-play announcer for CBS college football, the Los Angeles Clippers on radio, and Nickelodeon NFL coverage.
