Joe Barry is an American football coach who currently serves as the defensive coordinator for the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers (NFL).
He previously worked as the Los Angeles Rams’ assistant head coach and linebackers coach from 2017 to 2020, as well as the Washington Redskins’ defensive coordinator from 2015 to 2016 and the Detroit Lion’s defensive coordinator from 2007 to 2008.
Barry has also worked as an assistant coach for the San Diego Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and San Francisco 49ers in the past.
Mike Barry, a former coach, is Barry’s father. From 1989 to 1990, Barry was a linebacker at the University of Michigan before transferring to the University of Southern California.
Barry began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, the University of Southern California (USC), in 1994.
Barry joined Northern Arizona University as their linebackers coach in 1996 and stayed there until 1998 before being hired for the same position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1999.
