Whiteman, a medium-pace bowler and middle-order batsman, participated in seven Test matches between 1948 and 1951. Norma Whiteman was the oldest Australian Test cricketer still playing when she passed away.
In 1948, Norma Whiteman made her stage debut alongside the legendary Betty Wilson during a tour of New Zealand. Her career came to an end after the 1951 tour of England. She scored 151 Test runs at a 25.16 average and claimed 22 wickets at a 20.54 average.
Pat Cummins, the team’s male captain, also tweeted to honor Norma Whiteman’s involvement in Australian cricket. The tweet said, “This morning I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Norma Johnston.”
