In Sylacauga, Alabama, Green attended Sylacauga High School. As a senior, he tallied nine receiving touchdowns while playing wide receiver. To play college football, he committed to Clemson University. Green had two receptions in 12 games as a freshman at Clemson. He transitioned to safety prior to his sophomore season in 2014. He recorded 18 tackles and an interception in 11 games, one of which he started. He started as a junior and had 95 tackles and one sack.
