After scoring Jair Bala’s 1,000th goal against Vasco in 1969, the former striker who had teamed up with Pelé at Santos and replaced Rei was taken to a hospital in Belo Horizonte after suffering a stroke. Former América-MG player and beloved coach Jair Bala passed away on Tuesday in Belo Horizonte at the age of 79. The former striker had health issues because of a stroke (cerebral vascular accident) in 2020. Jair Bala was admitted as a patient in Belo Horizonte. Details of the wake and funeral will still be made public.
