Lattanzi was raised in Portland, Oregon by Charles Paul Lattanzi and Jeanette (née Slowikowski). While his father, an Italian maintenance foreman, was an Italian, his mother is Polish. He graduated from high school in 1977 with a Benson Polytechnic diploma.
After first meeting while working on the movie Xanadu, Lattanzi and Olivia Newton-John were married in 1984.
Chloe Rose Lattanzi, the couple’s only child, was born on January 17, 1986. His acting career was virtually over by 1993, so he accepted a position as a contractor for a California home construction business.
