He was professionally known as Adam Wade. He was born on March 17, 1935.

Wade, who grew up in the East Liberty neighbourhood, earned his high school diploma from Westinghouse in 1952.

After high school, Wade enrolled at Virginia State University, but he departed after his second semester.

Wade worked as a lab assistant for Dr. Jonas Salk for a period on the polio research team before beginning to pursue a recording career in the latter half of 1959.

With Coed Records, he signed. He achieved his first No. 58 triumph at the beginning of 1960 with the song “Ruby,” a cover of the well-known 1953 movie theme.

Wade enjoyed popularity in the early 1960s. Wade’s singing style and that of contemporaneous Johnny Mathis were widely contrasted.
