Afro Nation is a three-day music festival held every year by Live Nation, Event Horizon, Smade Entertainment, and Memories of Tomorrow. Obi Asika and SMADE launched the festival in 2013, in collaboration with BBC 1 Xtra. The platform was created in order to bring together the top African artists in Afrobeats, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Amapiano, Afro House, and other genres. At the 2019 UK Festival Awards, the festival was nominated for Best Overseas Festival.

Obi Asika and SMADE launched Afro Nation (also known as Afro Nation Puerto Rico, Afro Nation United States, Afro Nation Ghana, and Afro Nation Mexico) on August 1, 2019. The event was founded as a four-day yearly music festival in Portimo, Portugal, and will continue to operate as such until 17 July 2020. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the second edition was postponed to 1 July 2022. Afro Nation released Afro Nation, Vol. 1 on December 13, 2019, curated by MOVES Recordings. SMADE, Ice Prince, Slim Kofi, Lighter Tod, Joey B, Kuami Eugene, Medikal, Eddie Kadi, Bisa Kdei, Adekunle Gold, Oxlade, Reekado Banks, Eugy, Br3nya, and Terry Apala make appearances on the album.

Where is Afro Nation held in 2023?

Afro Nation Portugal 2023 will be held on the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach in Portimao, Algarve. Some of the most fascinating names in afrobeats, hip hop, r&b, dancehall, and bashment will be performing.
