Amil Kahala Whitehead, a former American rapper and vocalist, gained notoriety in the late 1990s as a Jay-Z protégé and collaborated with him on the Rush Hour soundtrack song “Can I Get A…” Amil Whitehead’s first studio album, “All Money Is Legal” (2000), produced the songs “I Got That” (with Beyoncé) and “4 da Fam,” and it peaked at No. 45 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Amil Whitehead was a part of the all-female band Major Coins in 1997. The trio later ran across Jay-Z, who was searching for a female vocalist for his third album, Vol. 2… Hard Scrabble Life.

She was given a freestyle request from Jay-Z, who liked it and chose her for the part. After Major Coins’ breakup, Amil embarked on a solo career under Jay-Z’s label, Roc-A-Fella Records, and became a part of the 1999 Hard Knock Life Tour.

Where Is Amil Whitehead Now?

Since 2014, Amil Whitehead has been inactive in the music scene. Her last single, “Remember,” was released in 2014 as part of an intended promotion for a mixtape titled “Another Moment in Life,” which unfortunately remains unreleased.
