Toufik Benedictus “Benny” Hinn, an Israeli Christian televangelist who was born on 3 December 1952, is best known for his recurring “Miracle Crusades,” which are revival meetings or faith-healing summits that are typically held in stadiums in major cities and are later broadcast internationally on his television program, This Is Your Day. Hinn’s parents, who were born in Palestine and had Greek-Egyptian, Palestinian, and Armenian-Lebanese ancestry, welcomed him into the world in 1952 in Jaffa, the city that had just become the capital of the young nation of Israel.

He had baptism by the Jerusalem patriarch and was brought up in the Eastern Orthodox faith. Hinn’s family immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1968, shortly after the 1967 Arab-Israeli War (also known as “The Six-Day War”), where he attended Georges Vanier Secondary School. He never earned a degree. Hinn claims in his writings that despite being socially isolated as a youngster and stuttering, he was a top student. Hinn’s father was the mayor of Jaffa at the time of his birth.
