A hospital treated her for dehydration. Her mother was told to leave the room while they treated her. When the doctor arrived, he informed the woman that Camila had died. The funeral was held the next day.
They discovered the small girl was still alive at that point. The family has filed a lawsuit against the first hospital.

“What I actually want is for justice to be done; I don’t have a grudge towards the physicians to an extreme; I simply ask that the doctors, nurses, and directors be replaced so that it doesn’t happen again,” Mary Jane Peralta, her mother, said in an interview.
