Catherine Jemima Hughes is the grandmother of Jeffrey Dahmer the popular American chain killer and the mother of Lionel Dahmer.
When Jeffrey’s father, Lionel, learned that his son had left school and was been released from the army, he felt that his grandmother would be able to change his life. Therefore, in December 1981, Lionel sent Jeffrey to West Allis, Wisconsin, to stay with Catherine and thought Catherine would have a positive impact on Jeffrey.
Jeffrey first followed Catherine’s instructions at her home and applied for a job as a phlebotomist at the Milwaukee Blood Plasma Center. However, he only worked there for ten months, and there were accusations that during that period he had legal issues for having sex in public. In 1985, Jeffrey took a second job at the Milwaukee Ambrosia Chocolate Factory as a mixer, but he was still plagued by the need to murder. He committed his first murder on November 20, 1987, while residing with his grandmother.
He killed at least three people while residing with his grandmother Catherine Jemima Hughes in her home. Some of them were fortunate enough to escape death.

When Jeffrey Dahmer, his grandson was apprehended in 1991, Catherine was still alive. But a year after, at the age of 88, she passed away in 1992. Its is often said that, Catherine is the only one Jeffrey did not hurt and felt sorry for, even though he killed three humans in his grandma’s balcony.
