Daughter of a Scottish clan chief, Charlotte Gordon Cumming is a Scottish contemporary singer-songwriter and music producer. She was born on 2 February 1958. She was the author of the Sugababes song “Soul Sound,” a 2001 MTV Best European Single Award nominee. The song was recorded by Cumming for her album Mindwalking in 2005 and covered by Indonesian singer Joy Tobing for her album Rise.

Cumming has established her own contemporary fusion of Celtic melodies and African rhythms, though she is influenced by musicians like Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, and Sinéad O’Connor.

At her brother’s estate in Scotland in September 2008, Cumming, her husband, her brother, and her sister-in-law consumed toxic Cortinarius speciosissimus mushrooms that had been mistakenly classified as delectable. As a result, some members of the group developed kidney failure. Cumming received a kidney transplant in 2012 after continuing to receive kidney dialysis and trying other medical therapies.
