Grady Demond Wilson is an American actor and author who, at the age of 25, played Lamont Sanford, the son of Fred Sanford (played by Redd Foxx) in the NBC sitcom Sanford and Son (1972-1977) and Oscar Madison in The New Odd Couple (1982-1983). Wilson appears in the 1993 film Me and the Kid.

Demond Wilson was born in 1946 in Valdosta, Georgia, and raised in New York City, where he learned tap and ballet. Wilson made his Broadway debut at the age of four and performed at Harlem’s Apollo Theater at the age of twelve.

He grew up Catholic and worked as an altar boy. Despite his grandmother’s Pentecostalism, he had a brief interest in the Catholic priesthood.

Where Is Demond Wilson Now?

In 2005, Demond Wilson announced his retirement from acting. In 2010, he began production and acting in a melodramatic family film based on the play Faith Ties. “I play a broken down old drunk whose wife and daughter are killed and he’s given up on life,” he says of the project.

The protagonist is a preacher who is caught in the midst as people’s lives crumble around him.”

Wilson and his family are said to live in Palm Springs, California.
