Lorayne was born on May 4, 1926, in New York City, to Benjamin and Clara Bendel Lorayne. Harry Lorayne is a writer, lecturer, and memory training specialist from the United States.
He has won numerous honors, including the Star of Magic Award from the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 1975, the award for memory training from the New York Film and Television Festival in 1979, and the Magician of the Year Award from the Society of America Magicians in 1983.
Victor Jory, a well-known actor known for playing a magician detective, frequented the club on a regular basis. To show off his recollection, Lorayne would introduce himself to each member of the club he was visiting while standing next to the president. The maximum number of members in a club is 1,500. After an hour and a half, Lorayne would talk for roughly 20 minutes about the memory before asking if anyone had any questions.
