Jason Brown was born in Henderson, North Carolina, and grew up there. He was a National Honor Society member while attending Northern Vance High School.
He was also a member of the marching band before the football coach urged him to join the squad and play football. Brown was a standout in both football and track & field, taking home four discus titles and one shot put title at the state level.

At the age of 29, Jason W. Brown gave up playing football to start a farm in Louisburg, North Carolina. On his 1,000-acre farm, First Fruits Farm, Brown grows vegetables including cucumbers and sweet potatoes.
He has previously donated more than 50,000 pounds of cucumbers and 500,000 pounds of sweet potatoes to local food organizations. Jason started watching YouTube videos in 2012 to learn about farming practices.
