Nicholas Markowitz was abducted on August 6, 2000, by Jesse James Hollywood and a few members of his gang, including Jesse Rugge and William Skidmore. Ben Markowitz, who owed James $1,200 for drug debt, was James’ half-brother.
The goal was to use Nicholas as a bargaining chip to get Ben to settle the loan. Then, Nicholas was driven from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, where he was detained for three days.
