John Wayne Gacy is a serial killer and sexual offender from Chicago, Illinois. Gacy murdered and abused at least 33 young men in Cook County, Illinois, between 1972 and 1976.

All of Gacy’s murders, he claimed in an interview for Conversations With a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes happened within his home outside Norridge, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. He would lure his victims to his home, rape and torment them there for hours on end, and then murder them.

In total, 26 victims were discovered in the vacant crawl area of his house, and three more were discovered nearby. In the neighboring Des Plaines River, four were found. Gacy was known as “The Killer Clown” because of his work as a clown, which included visiting children’s hospitals and performing at charity events. Prior to that, he attended Northwestern Business College and worked as a mortuary attendant in Las Vegas, where he later graduated in 1963. He later rose to management positions at Nunn-Bush Shoe Company in Springfield, Illinois, and KFC.

Additionally, Gacy was a well-known participant in the Illinois and Iowa chapters of the Jaycees, a civic organization and leadership development program.

Where Is John Wayne Gacy Now?

John Wayne Gacy passed away in 2004. At Stateville Correctional Center, he was put to death by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.

Despite having a scheduled execution date of June 2, 1980, Gacy spent 14 years in a death row cell.
He tried multiple times to get his case dismissed while he was on death row.
