Because of the close bond she had with her mother, she would never leave her dog alone. As a result, Arlene was worried when Lori’s boss contacted her to let her know that she had not arrived.
She wasn’t that sort of person, remarked Arlene. She would never abandon her puppy. Since we were close, she would have told me if there was an issue. On June 13, 2006, Arlene left for Auburn and filed a missing person’s report for Lori. She saw that a garbage can, some gardening tools, a couch pillow, a landline phone wire, and a Galileo thermometer were missing from her daughter’s house. The case then took on a new twist when Lori’s burning automobile was discovered the next day.
