After finishing fourth in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and seventh overall at the Tour of Qatar, Rowe had a great start to the 2015 season.

After that, Rowe had a breakthrough season in the classics, finishing ninth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (which teammate Ian Stannard won), thirteenth in E3 Harelbeke (which teammate Geraint Thomas won), and an outstanding eighth in Paris-Roubaix, ahead of Bradley Wiggins (18th), who was competing in his final race for Sky.

He was chosen for Sky’s Tour de France squad, making him the third Welsh rider (together with Colin Lewis and Geraint Thomas) to take part in the race.

Rowe received the honour of being the final rider to finish the 2017 Tour de France by placing 167th and earning the unofficial “lanterne rouge” moniker.

When Rowe was whitewater rafting at his brother’s stag party in Prague in August 2017, he plunged into shallow water and shattered his right tibia and fibula.
