Maria Telkes would forever be remembered for her very brilliant mind and exceptional dedication to inventions and science in general but her contributions go beyond the realms of science. The ‘Sun Queen’ was born in Budapest on the 12th of December in 1900 and her parents are Aladar Telkes and Maria Laban de Telkes.
She had her University education at Eötvös Loránd where she obtained her first degree at the age of 20 and subsequently her PhD in physical chemistry at the impressive age of 24. She in 1925 moved to the United States where she worked in a lab as a biophysicist in Cleveland, Ohio. She is said to have an unflinching dedication towards her work so much that she basically had time for nothing else including a husband or lover.
She is generally considered one of the pioneers and lead researchers of solar energy.
