Williams claimed that after watching Virginia Ruzici play on television, he decided that his future daughters would play tennis and enrolled them in lessons with a teacher known only as “Old Whiskey.”
Later, Williams claimed that he thought he had enrolled his daughters too young and that six would have been a better age. Williams withdrew his girls from a tennis program in 1995 and started coaching them himself.

Williams, who resides in Atlanta at the moment, has recently experienced health issues. The 80-year-old is receiving care from his son Chavoita LeSane after suffering two strokes in 2016.
