Dr. Sara Cody is the public health officer and director of the Public Health Department for Santa Clara County. Cody obtained a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Stanford University and then completed her medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine.

After completing an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Stanford University Medical Center, Cody went on to complete a fellowship in epidemiology and public health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for a period of two years. During this time, he worked as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer, also known as a “disease detective”
