Putellas has been a fan of FC Barcelona since she was a child. Putellas used to accompany the Penya of Mollet del Vallès to Camp Nou to watch Barcelona games with her father as a child. Alexia Putellas and her family would also watch Barcelona games at a local bar called La Bolera. Despite coming from a basketball-playing family, Putellas started playing football for the first time when he was seven years old in 2001. Alexia Putellas signed up for CE Sabadell as her first club after learning about it from a family friend who was a member of the team. Putellas spent a year in the FC Barcelona youth academy in 2005. Putellas joined the RCD Espanyol youth teams when Alexia Putellas was twelve years old, and Alexia Putellas remained there for four years.
